Finals Frenzy: My Study Schedule - Week 1! :)

*Welcome to my blog! Visiting from the One Project at a Time! link party? Click here to go back to it! Hope you stick around & enjoy reading my blog! Thanks!* :)

Yay! Week 1 of finals prep is over! 3 more to go! (Yes, you read that correctly, prep!)
It was tough but I got through it alright!

Here's what tests the week included:

Colour Code:

Test #1 - Ch.1

Test #1 - Ch. 1 & 2
Test #1 - Ch. 14 & 16

Test #2 - Ch. 3

Test #2 - Ch. 13 & 17

Test #2 - Ch. 3 & 4
Test #3 - Ch. 18 (half chapter)

Test #3 - Ch. 5
Test #4 - Ch. 18 (remaining half)

Here's my "Study Schedule", that I wrote in my "Exam Planner":

  • I wrote down the chapters that I would study that day in their respective colours.
  • "R" towards the end of the line, stands for revision of a chapter that I've already studied, so I know that I can spend lesser time studying that. No "R" indicates that I have to study that chapter.
  • The light blue Post-its are for my homework, which frankly is a TON!
That's all for week #1! Thanks a TON for reading! Stay tuned for 3 more weeks & a bunch of organization/exam posts! Make sure you subscribe/follow so you know when I post next (links in the right sidebar)! Thanks! :)

Finals Frenzy: Syllabi Sorted! :)

You want to get good grades on your exams? Then you need to study (unless you're born a genius)! And for that you need to know what to study! Your syllabus! Though looking at the  table of contents in textbook after textbook may help a bit, you need to do more to be organized to the max!

I have just a little over 80 chapters to study for finals next month, sounds a little bit crazy, doesn't it? The workload that comes with finals - the numbers itself drive me crazy!

Here's how I sorted my syllabi!

This is my notebook which right now, has everything related to school & exams! It's from Staples & I love it!

I created tables to sort the syllabus, subject by subject, in their respective colour! (I did not write down the English syllabus as that is a much more lighter subject for me & all I do is read the chapters)

Beauty products, be gone! :) (Beauty Product Organization)

*Welcome to my blog! Visiting from the One Project at a Time! link party? Click here to go back to it! Hope you stick around & enjoy reading my blog! Thanks!* :)

As you probably know by now, I like alliterations, so I had to come up with something, hence the title - Beauty products, be gone! AKA a huge beauty products cleanout & reorganization that I did during the last week of 2013. Guess how much I spent? $3! However, due to my crazy schedule & with finals coming up (more about that here), I've not had time to type this up until now!

Anyways, enough of that - let's just get into the main thing here, shall we? Keep on reading!

Now for a teenager, (yup, a teen who loves organizing!) I do have quite a bit of makeup/hair products/body products/etc. which I've accumulated over the past few years! To be honest, I barely use most of them - I probably wear makeup once a month, use a leave-in conditioner in my hair once a week, lotion when I remember to & my sunscreen/moisturizer every morning! What does this mean? It means that I have hoarded a lot of stuff - which was expired, crumbled & who knows - it could have even had a new species of microorganisms in it! (ok...maybe not that extreme)

Here's the mess:

  • Total waste of vertical space
  • Clutter, clutter & more clutter (by the way, the hair products were in the adjacent shelf - not pictured)
  • Too many unused products
  • No organizational system at all!
Those were the things that needed to change!

Here's what I did:

#1 - Emptied everything onto my bed (& kept the hair products in a separate shelf):

Which left me with...

#2 - Sorted it into piles:

1. Skin/body care
2. Makeup
3. Fragrances
4. Empty products/containers (aka trash)

#3 - Started Organizing! (The best part!)

I started with hair products! I put them in a $3 tray called the MyCase from Staples!

I kept more frequently used products in the front & the rest in the back!
I placed this tray in the back corner of the shelf (picture below)

Next, I stored most of my body/skin care products! In the first image, I placed a couple of my skincare products & fragrances next to which I kept the rest of my skincare in a container that I previously had! In the next image, I decided to change things a little by utilizing vertical space! The fragrances found themselves a home in the grey haircare tray! I also stored my palettes by "filing" them!

Onto makeup organization & cleaning out!
As I went through the makeup, I kept things which had to be thrown out separately. I stored eye makeup & lip products in 2 black felt trays from a 3-drawer RoseArt box which I had as a kid - I had even coloured them in!) I stored the makeup in such a way that I could pile the trays on top of each other!

For face products & frequently used skincare, I used an empty box that once had the LipMobile which my aunt had given me (in case you're wondering, it is the topmost left corner product in the tray in the above image). It was packaged like an iPhone, in a fairly big box. I decided to use the box & it's lid as 2 trays!

Top image - I stored my face makeup products & mirrors in the bottom of the box
Bottom image - I used the lid to store my most frequently used products which included a few moisturizers, lotions, toners & lip balms!

For makeup brushes/tools, I used one of the containers that I had previously used to store most of my makeup in! The container on top of the box had tools that needed to be washed!

Finally, last but not the least, nail polish! I am in no way a nail polish person so my "collection" (if you would call it that) is very limited! To store them, I used an empty Ferrero Rocher chocolate box (I just threw away the lid!)

Now, here's how I organized the all of the above individual systems in the shelf! (Notice the coloured in RoseArt trays!)

I placed the frequently used products in front of the face makeup & tools. Finally, I put the nail polish tray in the front!

Here's how everything turned out!

By the way, here's everything I threw away:

That's how I organized my beauty products! How much did I spend? Only $3! I reused a lot of things in different ways which saved me money but at the same time, allowed me to be organized! Remember, being organized doesn't mean you have to shell out a lot of cash, make do with what you have! Go ahead, be creative! :)

That's all for this post! Thanks a TON for reading! I hoped you liked the way everything turned out! I sure did! I hoped this helped you in some way and maybe even inspired you to organize your beauty products!

Feel free to leave a comment below! (Requests, questions or anything - I will reply!) Also, how do you organize your beauty products? If you want to read more organization posts, click on the tab at the top of the page! (there's an About Me tab too!)

Finals Frenzy: Introduction! :)

*in a happy, cheerful tune* "Finals are fun. And fantastic. In fact, they're fun-tastic."

Ok, no one likes finals (except for maybe Hermione Granger). Is anyone really like this?

Well, finals is in a little over a month (for me at least, since I live in India) & with the schedule that my school has planned out, I already know that it will be nothing less than CRAZY! I have over 80 chapters to study in all! Hence, the title of this series is Finals Frenzy (plus, I love alliterations). By the way, I'm in 11th grade!

This series will cover everything that I am doing & will do to face finals! (again, with the alliterations)
Here are a few of them:

  • Planning - creating a study schedule (& keeping up with it!)
  • Revision
  • Updates - every week or so
  • What do to - the week of finals
& a whole lot more! If you have any requests, feel free to leave them in a comment below! I would love to do them!

Now, for the CRAZY schedule that our school has planned: (My core 4 classes are Physics, Chemistry, Biology & Math but I also have English)

  • Revision tests from Monday - Saturday (continuously, for 4 weeks!)
  • 3 Objective Finals (tested on the entire years' syllabus for Physics, Chemistry & Biology) - 3rd week of February
  • Subjective (student-response) Finals - 20th February till 3rd March! (with days in between each final)
I'm currently planning things out & I will keep you updated on my preparation for finals! I'm not so sure as to how I'm going to get through them but I will, stress free! Any questions? Ask away! (I'll find time to answer, I promise!)

Thanks a TON for reading this post! Please subscribe/follow my blog (buttons in the right sidebar) so you know when I post next! Thanks! :) (By the way, this is my 50th post!)

2014 Resolutions! :)

*Welcome to my blog if you're visiting from the  One Project at a Time link party! Thanks for stopping by! Hope you like my blog! Yes, I am a student but in case you were wondering of what my intention a starting a blog is & a little bit about me, click here!* :

Well, 2013 just passed us by, quicker than I ever expected it to! How was 2013 for you?

Since 2014 is here, it's time to make some New Year's Resolutions! When it comes to resolutions, some people are entirely against them - are you one of them? (If not, tell me why! It would be interesting to know!)
Well, I'm not - I consider the mark of the beginning of a new year a time to consider making a few changes here & there!

Feel free to leave your New Year's Resolutions (if you have any, that is) in a comment below! I would LOVE to know! :)

Anyways, since I'm not like Calvin, here are my resolutions: ;)

#1 - Establish a proper sleeping schedule!
School is absolutely crazy for me - now I even have 2 tests a week, finals coming up in a month & school from Monday to Sunday! I sleep at around midnight & wake up at 6:30 in the morning. It may seem like a decent amount of sleep, but most of the time, I'm still not feeling rejuvenated & wide awake for school!
I have no idea if my biological clock isn't functioning all that well, but I need to make sure it does!

#2 - Slowly go from FAT to FIT!
Exercise. Eating healthy. Weight loss. These 3 probably top the list of all resolutions ever made since people have started making new year's resolutions! Now, I'm not looking to lose weight but fat instead - one step at a time! I'm not setting any numbers for myself, like - "I want to exercise 5 times a week", or "I have to burn at least 800 calories a day" because I know I won't be able to achieve it! I don't even exercise 5 times a month! (Honestly, I think I burn calories now because of stress & laughing - which are not related normally, right?) ;) Here's a humorous quote:
"My New Year's resolution usually starts with the desire to lose between ten and three thousand pounds." - Nia Vardalos
#3 - Record life!
We all can remember events that have occurred, both good and the not-so-good, but I would like to preserve the good ones - either by taking pictures or writing down little things that made me smile/laugh!
Have you ever done something related to this? I've that a lot of people have come up with all sorts of things to preserve memories!

#4 - Change myself for the better!
You might be thinking, what do I mean by changing myself? Well, there are quite a few things about me that I would like to change! I've decided to club them together to make one massive resolution but I could easily split it into 10 smaller ones! It might sound kind of self-centered but if you think about it, it actually isn't! Here are some things I would like to change:
  • Being negative - When it comes to school, I'm positive! However, when it comes to everything else, I can be a complete pessimist!
  • Being happy only on the outside - to others, I seem pretty happy whereas inside I'm not as happy as I seem to be. I would like to be genuinely happy this year! (And for the rest of my life!)
  • Stop comparing myself with others - I have what I have & I must accept it - accept the way that I am or change it the way I want to, the way that I think it would benefit me! I've realized that comparing myself with others & thinking about "have nots", is a waste of time!
  • Bringing myself down: Now, when anyone ever says anything bad to me, it has no effect on me at all! But, when I think about my imperfections, I can bring myself down much harder than anyone else can. I am my worst enemy. (sounds kind of deep, doesn't it?) I need to learn to love myself & get past those perfect imperfections!
  • My level of focus & determination! Since I do have some long term goals that I would love to achieve, I definitely need to be more focused & determined!
#5 - Enjoy life! Live it to the fullest!
Again, another cliché but I think that if I achieve resolution #4, I will automatically achieve this one too! Sometimes, when you look back to the past , you might regret not doing certain things. You might think - why not? This year, I'm going to try to change my mindset & say "Why not?" Try to do things, big or small, things that I never would have even thought of doing! Live a little more in the present!
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the things you did." - Mark Twain
Those are my resolutions for 2014! Make 2014 the best year of your life yet! :)

Thanks for reading! Again, don't forget to leave yours in a comment down below! Feel free to go ahead & subscribe/follow so you know when I post next! Also, I will do a follow up post as soon as I can on achieving your resolutions (& how I plan on achieving mine too!) Thanks! :)

Happy New Year!! :D

Another year has passed by, faster than I ever thought it would! Honestly, I still remember January 1st 2013 clearly!

How was your 2013?
Mine was full of ups & downs but that's just the way life is, right?

Hope that everyone's 2014 is great!
